Caris Sports Foundation provides financial aid to student-athletes so they can participate in organized recreational and competitive sports. Financial support is distributed directly to the specific organizations that successful applicants wish to join.

To be considered for financial support, an applicant must

  • Be a full-time student (grade K-12)
  • Demonstrate a financial need
  • Be an Arizona resident
  • Choose to participate with an Arizona organization approved by Caris Sports Foundation
  • Provide documentation from the club/organization/camp of funds needed to participate

Caris Sports Foundation awards two types of scholarships:

Financial support for a competitive program focuses on participation in club-level sports that are based on athletic ability and talent. It is intended for student-athletes who want to join teams that compete at a high level and require tryouts, participate in weekend tournaments, and potentially involve travel.

Competitive Application

Financial support for a recreational program emphasizes participation in sports that are not based on the ability or talent. The primary purpose of financial support for a recreational program is to give student-athletes an opportunity to take part in a sport they love.

What You Need To Know:

  • Applicants for financial support must complete and submit one of the application forms. The Caris Sports Foundation Financial Support Committee will review applications quarterly or as needed.
  • Financial support distributions are based on demonstrated need, available funding, and the applicant’s eligibility to join the organization of his or her choice.
  • Financial support distributions are not guaranteed and applications are evaluated on a case-by-case basis. Distribution decisions may take up to 60 days depending on registration timelines, application submission date, and the number of applications received.
  • Financial support is granted for one season. Competitive applicants may only apply and receive financial aid once during a 12 month period.
  • All distributions are paid directly to the applicant’s sports club/organization/camp on behalf of the applicant. Prior to funds being distributed, the sports organization must confirm the applicant’s good standing and eligibility with the organization. In addition, the selected organization must be in good standing with Caris Sports Foundation.
  • All decisions regarding financial support awards are strictly within the purview of the Caris Sports Foundation Financial Support Committee and are final.
  • When filling out the applications, be prepared to provide documentation, including financial and personal details, to support your responses. All information provided to Caris Sports Foundation will be held in confidence. Read our confidentiality/privacy statement here.

Financial Support Application and Award Timeline

Applications are accepted on an ongoing basis. Application cutoff dates for consideration of an award are noted below. Applications may be resubmitted with new organization registration dates if an award was not granted during a previous award cycle.

Special circumstances may be considered if outside of the cited timelines by providing additional information to support the submitted application with such circumstance to info@carissportsfoundation.org.

WINTER AWARD

January 1 – Applications Open
January 31 – Application Deadline (applications received after this date will not be considered)
2nd Week of February – Scholarship decisions made
3rd Week of February – Email notifications sent to award recipient
Last Week of February – Scholarship awards sent to organizations

SPRING AWARD

May 1 – Applications Open
May 31 – Application Deadline (applications received after this date will not be considered)
2nd Week of June – Scholarship decisions made
3rd Week of June – Email notifications sent to award recipients

FALL AWARD

September 1 – Applications Open
