Giving Tuesday

Giving Tuesday is a global generosity movement, providing people and organizations opportunities to transform the communities in which they live. Giving Tuesday was created in 2012 – a day to encourage people to do good! It’s been eight years and every Giving Tuesday inspires millions of people to give to their communities, collaborate with their communities, and inspire others. In 2019, over $511,000,000 was raised in the United States alone.

This Giving Tuesday we are asking you to donate to Caris Sports Foundation. 2020 has been especially difficult on Arizona’s youth. Research suggests that crises like the COVID-19 pandemic can have a lasting impact on a child’s mental health and emotional well-being and youth sports is a way to alleviate depression. Here are four ways youth sports benefit the mental health of children of all ages:

  1. Community: Playing sports provides a community of support and a safe space for children and teens according to the National Council of Youth Sports. Your team becomes your family and is a pillar of support through good times and challenges.
  2. Socialization: Sports encourages children to build relationships with their peers. Having a circle of friends they can count on relieves social anxiety.
  3. Resilience: Youth sports builds resilience in young people and teaches them how to navigate challenges. Per the National Council of Youth Sports, “Building resilience can be a key to maintaining mental health and can serve young players well for their entire lives.”
  4. Confidence: Youth sports if rewarding and sets young people up for future success. Sports can make the difference between success and failure. In a survey by San Antonio Sports, 95 percent of responders affirmed that participating in sports and athletics at an early age can make a positive difference in a child’s development and 57 percent of business leaders attributed their youth sports experiences to their career success.

All children deserve to play, and economic barriers should not prevent them from playing the sports that they love. Donate now.
