Golf and the game of life

Caris Sports Foundation’s annual golf event is right around the corner on April 22nd! The sport of golf is one of the most unique out there. What life lessons can we learn from the game? It’s been said that golf is the closest game to the game we call life. You get bad breaks from good shots; you get good breaks from bad shots, but you have to play the ball where it lies.

Golf will take you through a gamut of emotions. The highs of hitting that perfect approach. The lows of watching your ball curve into the rough. Golf truly teaches you how to deal with life’s punches and keep your emotions in check. Golf teaches you how to learn and move on from the bad and not let it affect your future, and how to enjoy the good moments, even the unplanned ones.

Golf reminds you that an afternoon on the course with friends can be as fun as, if not more so, than any movie or dinner together. It reminds you that there is beauty in nature and that when something goes awry, it’s a lot easier to deal with when you’re surrounded by people who care about you.

Golf is one of the few sports that will leave you laughing or cringing depending on your attitude. But the lessons it can offer make it one sport that is uniquely positioned to bring people together in a fun atmosphere while teaching us how to live life in a happier way.
